Kansas Pheasant Hunting
By Tim Weddington | November 25, 2011
Pheasant hunting season is here and going. We have had 9 inches of rainfall this year and it has compressed pheasant numbers to irrigated fields. The number of birds that we are seeing in the irrigation corners and CRP grass located between irrigation, numbers are double compared to normal rainfall years. Most of our CRP land has been grazed or cut for hay this year due to our low rainfall and this also has led to pheasants being condensed in areas with good cover and water sources.

Was out in Western Kansas filling feeders and checking game cameras this weekend. The amount of deer traffic was unbelieavable I asume it is due to our drought. Usually during this time of year our feeders do not compete much with green alfalfa feilds but the drought must be effecting this trend of the Deer already coming to corn/protein feeders.
