Lodge Amenities at 10 Gauge: Rustic Luxury Meets Modern Comfort

After putting miles on and a limit of birds, your experience after the hunt matters too. At 10 Gauge Outfitters, we’ve put a lot of work into making the lodge a place where groups can actually settle in and enjoy themselves. For a lot of our guests, the time spent back at the lodge ends up being just as memorable as the hunt itself.

Remodeled Accommodations Built for Group Comfort and Rest

Kansas Pheasant Hunting Lodge - Custom poker table in the hunting lodge

The 10 Gauge lodge has changed quite a bit over the years. The original property dates back to the early 1900s, and the lodge has since remodeled, expanded, and updated with larger groups in mind. Today, the main lodge includes six bedrooms, two lofts, six bathrooms, and room for up to 26 guests. There’s also additional bunkhouse space when a group needs a little more room.

Nobody wants to finish a long day in the field and feel like they’re packed into a tiny cabin. Here, there’s room to shower, change, get your gear put away, and slow things down for the evening. We also have a large mudroom specifically for hunting gear. Boots, jackets, gun cases, and everything else that comes with a Kansas pheasant hunt.

Premier Indoor Entertainment and Relaxation Spaces

The main lodge is built around giving groups somewhere to hang out together. It gives everyone plenty of room to kick back and talk about the hunt.

Custom Bar and Poker Area

One of the main gathering places is the bar and poker area. There’s a large custom bar with a soda gun along with a custom poker table, giving everyone somewhere to sit down, pour a drink, play a few hands, and talk about the day. This is usually when the debate starts over who made the best shot, who missed the easiest bird, and whose dog actually deserves the credit.

Lounge Seating and Big Screens

If poker isn’t your thing, grab a seat and catch the game. The lodge has comfortable leather seating and large-screen TVs where guests can watch football, keep up with a game, or simply kick back for a while. The main living space also displays whitetail mounts taken through 10 Gauge over the years, so there’s usually something hanging on the wall that starts another hunting conversation.

Expansive Outdoor Living and Gourmet Dining

Kansas evenings are hard to beat, especially when the weather cooperates. That’s why we wanted the outdoor portion of the lodge to feel like an extension of the inside instead of just a patio with a couple chairs.

Outdoor Fireplace and Covered Lounge

The outdoor living area gives groups another place to gather after a hunt. It includes an outdoor fireplace, plenty of seating, a television and sound system, an outdoor kitchen, and a beverage cooler. Grab a drink, sit down by the fire, and enjoy the fact that you don’t have anywhere else you need to be.

Chef-Prepared Meals and Pizza Oven

Meals at 10 Gauge are a big part of the stay, and guests can expect more than sandwiches thrown together at the end of the day. Chef O, who joined 10 Gauge after coming from Kansas City, handles meals for our guests and brings a variety of dishes to the table throughout the trip. There’s also a pizza oven in the outdoor kitchen.

Breakfast gets you ready for the morning. Lunch gives everyone a chance to regroup before heading back out. Then dinner is when the pace finally slows down and the whole group can sit together.

Exploring Local Attractions Around Midway USA

10 Gauge Outfitters is located just north of Kinsley, Kansas, an area known as Midway USA. The nickname has been around for decades. Kinsley became known for its location between New York City and San Francisco, and the Midway USA name has stuck ever since. If you’re coming in early, staying an extra day, or bringing family members who aren’t planning to hunt every minute of the trip, there are a few places worth checking out nearby.

The Edwards County Historical Museum is right in Kinsley and gives visitors a look at the history of the area. You can also head toward Larned to visit the Santa Fe Trail Center or make the drive to Dodge City. Dodge City is an easy addition to the trip for anyone interested in western history. Boot Hill Museum sits on the original site of Boot Hill Cemetery and covers the cowtown days, lawmen, outlaws, and early history that made Dodge City famous.

When you book with 10 Gauge, we want the whole trip to be worth coming back for. We take pride in providing opportunities for guests out in the field. But the trip doesn’t end when you unload your gun. It’s coming back to the lodge, grabbing a drink at the bar, sitting around the fireplace, eating a great meal, playing cards, watching football, and giving your buddy a hard time about the rooster he somehow missed at 15 yards.
