Experience 10 Gauge

Pheasant Hunting in Kansas vs Colorado

Colorado provides a very welcoming pheasant hunting presence. Kansas is typically known for better upland bird game experience, due to more abundant bird population, and diverse hunting opportunities. Colorado biodiversity encompasses good species of huntable birds, but it has a different presence of upland birds than Kansas. At 10 Gauge, we have capitalized on our amazing Central Kansas habitat. We take great pride in maintaining such sustainable wildlife, and environmental habitats. Central Kansas, in particular, is known to have some of the best hunting throughout the whole state. We treat all our guests like family and want everyone to have the best hunt possible.

Find a Pheasant Hunting Lodge in Kansas vs Colorado

Kansas’s application process for obtaining a non-residents hunters license is easier than some other states. The licensing process is very accessible and affordable for out of state or in state as the fees are manageable no matter what avenue you’re coming from. Kansas also has a stronger population of upland birds than Colorado.

FAQs About Colorado Hunting Compared to Kansas

What species are better to hunt in Kansas Than in Colorado?

Kansas offers a stronger population of upland birds to hunt. A lot of what you’ll see is the Northern Bobwhite, and the Greater Prairie-chicken out in the plains. The state also sees less hunting pressure than Colorado, which helps maintain healthier bird populations throughout the season.

Is it cheaper to hunt in Kansas than in Colorado?

Kansas tends to be cheaper than Colorado for all types of hunting. From ammunition tax, licenses, and permits. The lower hunting pressure in Kansas also means you get more value for the money, and better success compared to the higher competition cost in Colorado.

Is the pheasant season the same in Kansas as in Colorado?

Both states have very reciprocal seasonal dates being November 9th until the 31st of January. In contrast, Colorado does not have a significant pheasant population which makes Kansas well-established and higher shooting experience during the season. This provides a prime destination for pheasant seekers.

Kansas hunting licensing

Kansas is known to be one of the best states to inquire about licenses and permits quickly. If you’re out of state or in state, the application process is very swift. Plus, with an economical price tag!

How do you get the 10 gauge outfitters from Colorado?

Driving from Dodge city airport is a 40 min drive not 20. It’s 38 miles total.

Direction from Colorado seems the right base if you’re coming from that area (the most common way) stated in the paragraph.
